Grooming Video By Paula Martinez
The handlers/groomers/owners in these videos demonstrate how they would use the Pure Paws product line with their dogs. You may even notice sometimes that different handlers use different techniques when bathing & grooming. There are many ways to combine the products to acheive the look that is right for your dog. If you want more information on the individual products and what they can do for your dog please look at the Product Information page or email us at info@purepaws.net
Grooming the Affenpinscher
Prepare the Volumizing Shampoo (1 part shampoo to 8 parts water) then distribute throughout the coat where needed. Some people chose to only bath furnishings others choose to do a complete bath. Rinse well and remove all of the shampoo. You can complement this bath with the Brightening Shampoo.
Volumizing Shampoo

You should always apply the Volumizing Foam to a damp coat. Put the foam in your hands and disperse evenly through out the coat. Then dry the coat. Do this in sections. Do not apply to all the legs at once. Do one at a time so that you make sure the coat is damp when applying. If the coat starts to dry out while you are finishing you need to add a little more water.

We highly recommend the Foam when creating that rounded look on the head. Prior to teasing the top of the head apply the Volumizing Foam and dry completely. Then tease the hairshafts to create that wonderful round look.

Volumizing Spray Gel
Spray directly into a damp coat and the distributed evenly. Again do this in sections so that the coat does not start to dry before you have a chance to blow dry the gel. Another way to use the gel is by diluting it in a small tub like container (1 part Volumizing Spray Gel to 4 parts water) – Once the product is mixed and diluted place the dog’s legs into the container. Let the product penetrate the furnishings. Then remove the legs from the container, remove the excess water and begin to dry.
Intense Hair Spray
For the finishing touches use the Intense hairspray to help keep the coat in place and give the dog a beautiful shine.

Maintenance

In between shows you can use the same bathing technique. Then condition the coat with the Deep Conditioner (1 part conditioner to 10 parts water) This will not cause you to lose texture!

AKC standard for the coat

Coat
Dense hair, rough, harsh, and about 1" in length on the shoulders and body. May be shorter on the rear and tail. Head, neck, chest, stomach and legs have longer, less harsh coat. The mature Affenpinscher has a mane or cape of strong hair which blends into the back coat at the withers area. The longer hair on the head, eyebrows and beard stands off and frames the face to emphasize the monkey-like expression. Hair on the ears is cut very short. A correct coat needs little grooming to blend the various lengths of hair to maintain a neat but shaggy appearance.
