Bathing your Keeshond

Pure Paws Products Recommended

Ultra Brightening Shampoo - Ultra Reconstructing Shampoo - Ultra Deep Conditioner - Ultra Shine Conditioner Spray - Volumizing Shampoo - Volumizing Foam - Volumizing Gel Spray - Ultra Finishing Show Spray

Prepare for the Bath: Brush your Keeshond out BEFORE washing. Always dampen your keeshond’s coat before brushing or combing. Combine 1 part Pure Paws Ultra Shine Conditioning Spray with 5-6 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray coat with mixture until dampened and brush coat. Brush out all knots and tangles.

1st Shampoo :

Wet the coat with cool to lukewarm water. Do not use hot water it causes the hair to loosen. Mix one part Pure Paws Ultra Bright Shampoo with 10 parts water in a small container. Apply the shampoo mixture to the coat starting at the head and gently wash the dog’s body. Do not scrub the hair. Massage the hair gentle as if it was a fine sweater. Give extra attention (and shampoo) to any stained areas on pants or tail. Use a washcloth to wash the face and muzzle of the dog and to rinse it. Let set 3-5 minutes. Rinse coat well. Avoid getting water in the ears or eyes.

2nd Shampoo:

Mix one part Pure Paws Ultra Reconstructing Shampoo with 10 parts water in a small container. Apply the mixture to the dog’s coat and gently wash the dog as explained above. Leave on coat for 3 minutes. Be sure to rinse out all of the shampoo from the coat.

3rd Shampoo: (only use if extra volume is needed for showing)

Mix one part Pure Paws Volumizing Shampoo with 8 parts water in a small container. Wash as explained above. Leave on coat for 3 – 4 minutes. Be sure to rinse out all of the shampoo from the coat.

Conditioner:

Mix 1 part Pure Paws Ultra Deep Conditioner with 8 parts water. Apply to coat. Work conditioner into coat with hands. Leave conditioner on for 3-5 minutes. Rinse conditioner out. Use a chamois to remove all excess water from coat.

Drying:

Use cool air to dry your keeshond. Start at the rear of your dog and always blow hair up and forward. Be sure to thoroughly dry your keeshond especially on the back under the tail.

Preparing for a Show: If more volume is needed for competing, work either the Pure Paws Volumizing Foam or Pure Paws Volumizing Spray into the damp coat. (If using the spray – first spray it into your hands then work that into the coat.) Pay special attention to the hair around the neck and mane. Then blow coat dry with cool air starting at the rear and blow air up and forward. Once your kees is dry spray the Pure Paws Ultra Finishing Spray on the tail and brush it flat. (This helps the hair lay flat.)

In Between Baths: In between baths spray the coat with one part Pure Paws Ultra Shine Conditioner Spray mixed with 5-6 parts water liberally on coat before brushing or just as a daily conditioner.
