Disclaimer

At Pure Paws we are animal lovers to the bone. As such, we promise to put our best paw forward in order to provide you and your pets with the safest and most effective ingredients possible.

Due to the high quality and concentration of the extracts we use, many pet parents have found our products to be effective for treating mild to moderate skin conditions. These “solutions” are recommended based on independent research and our consumer results. They have not been evaluated by the FDA and are not intended as a replacement for veterinary prescriptions.

Though, we are strongly biased on the power of best ingredients to provide the best results. 🙂

Best Ingredients = Best Results

Allergies:

My dog has allergies. Which products should I use?

The topical products you are using could be the cause of your pet’s allergies. However, we invite you to first take a look at your food and see if there are any possible allergy causing ingredients.

If your dog is allergic to grains, you can use the Reconstructing Line or the sulfate free alternative, Silky Soft Shampoo.

If your dog is not allergic to grains, you can use the Oats ‘n Aloe Line or the Itch Fix Shampoo.

Itch Relief:

De-matting:

Which products can I use for de-matting or preventing mats?

A good place to start is to make sure you are brushing your dog on a daily basis with a light conditioning spray. Brushing a coat dry can cause static electricity to break the coat, leading to an increase in matting!

For a light daily maintenance spray try our botanical based Reconstructing Spray from our Reconstructing Line (Silky Soft is the Sulfate Free alternative for the Reconstructing Line).

For a slightly thicker drop coat try our Silk Basics Spray from our Silk Basics Line.

For dense mats turn to our H2O Mist from our H20 line. If you would like to use the H20 as a daily spray, take care not to spray too much or too closely to your dog as this can leave him or her a tad greasy.

Dry skin:

Dry dog skin. What can I do about it? Which products should I use?

Dry skin can sometimes be caused by a lack of nutrients in their diet. Make sure you are keeping your dog healthy from the inside out. 🙂

If your dog’s dry skin is coupled with shedding try our hydrolyzed keratin and jojoba infused Forte Line or the sulfate free alternative, Shed Ease Shampoo.

If you live in a dry climate, try the H2O Line. If you have a drop coat try the Reconstructing Line and for sulfate-free options you can use the Silky Soft Shampoo.

Odor & Staining:

My pet/dog/cat smells like urine. Which products should I use? What can I do about it?

First, to remove the salt crystals and eliminate the odor instead of just masking it, use our No Rinse Spray. This is also great to use in between bathes for a quick refresher.

Then to remove staining through the use of live enzymes, spray the Bio-Enzymatic Spray on a daily basis. Take care not to spray around the eyes. Instead, spray on a cotton swab and rub gently.

To prevent further staining, bathe once a week in the sulfate free, optical brightener infused Bright White Shampoo. Optical brighteners absorb light in the ultraviolet spectrum then re-emit blue creating an optical illusion making the coats appear whiter.

For show days, use the White Magic Shampoo to deposit cool tones in order to counter yellow staining. For special use around the face and eyes, use our Love My Eyes Kit.

Sensitive skin:

My dog has sensitive skin. What can I do about it? Which products should I use?

If your dog has sensitive skin, you should opt for the products within the sulfate-free lines. Products in this line are the Itch Fix Shampoo, Shed Ease Shampoo, Bright White Shampoo and Silky Soft Shampoo.

Shed control:

How can I get my dog to stop shedding?

It is normal for some breeds to shed. To help reduce excessive shedding, bathe on a regular basis and try our hydrolyzed keratin and Jojoba infused Forte Line or the sulfate free alternative, Shed Ease Shampoo.

Dull coat:

I want my dog to have a shiny coat. What do I do?

Any of our shampoo and conditioners will leave your dog’s skin and coat healthy and so, naturally shiny. However, for an extra boost of illumination, try some of the following sprays: On your smooth or short-coated breeds like pugs, try the Silk Basics Serum.  On your drop-coated breeds try the Silk Basics Illuminate Shielding Spray.  On your double-coated breeds try the H2O Mist.

*NOTE: Mist lightly. 🙂

Skin conditions:

My dog has skin problems. What can I do about it? Are there products I can use?

*Remember that disclaimer?

Hot spots:

Got hot spots? here is how some of our products can help.

Forte Line and the sulfate free alternative Shed Ease. – These two products use hydrolyzed keratin, jojoba and collagen. These ingredients help to restore the keratins and lipids lost on the dermis. This is the same reason these work so well for shedding and event itching.

The Colloidal Silver is a spray with silver particles suspended in the liquid. As the silver oxidizes it fights the bacteria for oxygen consumption. Without oxygen, bacteria can’t survive. And since silver not an antibiotic, the bacteria will have a hard time building a resistance.

The same live enzymes in the Bio-enzymatic Spray that help to remove staining, also eats yeast related protein bacteria that can help prevent skin barrier problems related to bacteria.

Alopecia:

Alopecia is defined as a loss of hair, partial or complete, in areas where it normally grows.

There are multiple causes:

  • Hereditary (Chinese Crested, Xolo, Etc)
  • Acquired Inflammatory (Flea bites, Mange, Etc)
  • Acquired Non-Inflammatory (Licking, Calluses, Gestational Hair Loss)

To help treat non-hereditary alopecia, you can try the Forte Line and the sulfate free alternative Shed Ease. These two products use hydrolyzed keratin, jojoba and collagen. These ingredients help to restore the keratins and lipids lost on the dermis. This is the same reason these work so well for shedding and event itching.

“Staphylococcus is a name of a group of bacteria commonly found on the skin. Dermatitis is a term that means inflammation of the skin. This condition is also referred to as Staphylococcal pyoderma or Staph. pyoderma. Pyoderma is a medical term for bacterial skin infection.”

This can be made caused by “Scratching, licking and chewing are the most common causes of skin irritation. Any disorder that causes itching can create the ideal conditions to allow Staphylococcus to become a problem. Common causes of itching include fleas, inhalant allergy, and food allergy. Irritating chemicals such as flea and tick dips can also cause itching.”
